Mr. Tripp's educational background started in Sandwich, IL where he was heavily involved in the Fine Arts (band, speech, drama) as well as some athletics and clubs.

He went to Western Illinois University for his undergraduate degree in music education graduating in 2008 (Magna Cum Laude).

While working in Paris, Illinois, he attained a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Eastern Illinois University in 2014.

At WIU, Mr. Tripp was involved in the Marching Leathernecks (Drum Major for two years) as well as a part of the Symphony Orchestra, the Jazz Studio Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Leatherneck Pep Band, and an all-male a cappella group called “The Advantage”.  He also student taught with fellow Sandwich and WIU alumni, DJ Alstadt, at Naperville Central High School prior to his graduation.  His experiences have allowed him to work with great musicians from all across the country including Jon Faddis, Rick Simerly, Ray Anderson and Duffy Jackson.

While at Paris, Mr. Tripp grew a 60-piece band into well over 110 members in 6 years.  Additions to the program included the Jazz Ensemble, Beacon Brigade Marching Corps, Holiday Ensemble, and participation in Solo and Ensemble contest every year.  His students individually and as ensembles have received high accolades in many of the ensembles available.  In January 2014, the PCHS Jazz Ensemble took the highest honor in the state by performing at the ILMEA All-State Conference.  The newly formed Beacon Brigade also took home numerous division victories and caption wins in its two year existence.

Mr. Tripp’s duties at Manteno CUSD #5 include Director of Bands at the high school where he teaches the Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Holiday Ensemble, and the Marching Panthers.  He also teaches 5th grade beginning band at Manteno Middle School.  He also performs in the River Valley Wind Ensemble, Kankakee Municipal Band, and is an active member of the worship team at Grace Fellowship Church in Mokena, IL.  He also enjoys being active with activities such as running, playing racquetball, playing guitar and banjo, and being around his family.  He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, NAfME, ILMEA, National Band Association, Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, and Phi Beta Mu Education Honor Society.

Mr. Tripp currently resides in Manteno with his wife and fellow music teacher, Mrs. Brenna Tripp, along with their daughter Maddox, and two dogs, Luna and Gozer.
