School Attendance
What time does school begin and end? Start Time - 8:05 AM. End Time - 2:55 PM
What if my child is going to be absent? If a student is ill or must be absent, the parents MUST report their student's absence either by phoning our 24-hour hotline at (815-928-7150 or by reporting on-line using Skyward Family Access. ** In order to attend any after school extracurricular, you must attend school on that day. What if my child is going to be late? The child must report directly to the front office and obtain a tardy slip. If the student has a written excuse for a "valid cause" or the student is late due to district transportation trouble, the student will receive an "excused tardy" and will not be penalized. Any other tardy shall be considered "unexcused".
What if my child has to leave early? The parent/guardian must report to the office and sign the student out. If someone besides the parent/guardian will be picking up the student, a note from the parent/guardian will be required in order for the student to be released to that person.
What is the earliest I can drop my child off in the morning? Students should arrive between 7:00-8:00AM, but the doors will open at 7:35 AM for bus riders. When you arrive at school you should report to the gym. You will be dismissed by grade levels, so listen for directions from the teachers.
6th & 7th grades sit in the upper bleachers
8th grade sits in the lower bleachers.
5th graders report to the cafeteria and sit at their assigned classroom table.
Where do I drop off or pick up my child? The drop-off lane for vehicle traffic is curbside on Poplar Street and in the lane on the north side, between the Middle School and the Primary School. Please do not use the circle drive in front of the Middle School.
Grading Scale
Letter grades indicate student achievement in relation to established classroom standards. Grades of A, B, C, and D are passing. The grade of F is failing.
A = 100% - 92% B = 91% - 83% C = 82% - 75% D = 74% - 75% F = 64% - 0%
Conduct and Discipline
May my child have a cell phone at school? Cell phones, pagers, and other electronic communication devices are to be turned off and kept in the student’s locker during school hours. Students who violate this rule will have the item confiscated and returned only to the parent. Repeat offenses will be subject to additional consequences.
